Unemployment Extensions 2010 Illinois

How do you qualify for Unemployment Extension in Ilinois?

I live in Illinois and lost my job in May 2009. My unemployment will run out in Feb 2010. I hope to have a job long before then. I have heard that there is an emergency extension for up to an additional 36 weeks. Eligibility will be determined once I exhaust my current benefits. Does anyone know how this is determined? Does everyone get the extension automatically? Thanks!
